Barcelona is implementing an innovative initiative to charge electric vehicles (EVs) using the brakes of its metro trains. According to Travel Tomorrow, the city’s new power generation system captures energy from train braking to supply power to its metro network, stations, and nearby EVs charging stations. This initiative, known as MetroCharge, utilises regenerative braking technology to provide a cost-effective and sustainable public transport solution that aligns with Barcelona’s sustainability objectives.
