According to Travel Tomorrow, SNCF, France's national railway operator, has started testing solar panels on its railway tracks. This six-month pilot, called the Solveig Project, began in mid-January 2025 at Achères. If successful, the project will play a key role in SNCF's plan to install 1,000 MWp of photovoltaic capacity by 2030. The goal is to assess the feasibility of integrating solar energy into railway infrastructure to improve sustainability.
