The Scientific Symposium "Air, Sea and Climate - Health Strategies" was held in Saint Vlas on September 1, 2024, bringing together leading specialists to discuss health tourism and the treatment of chronic lung diseases. The Deputy Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva emphasized the importance of health tourism for the sustainable development of specialized forms of tourism and announced that this sector already represents 16% of tourism revenues in Bulgaria. In the first half of 2024, Saint Vlas welcomed over 38,000 tourists, and the interior of the country attracted over 716,000 visitors in 16 municipalities developing spa and health tourism. Georgieva noted that health tourism not only improves physical health, but also contributes to the integrated development of regions and expects a growth of interest in a healthy lifestyle (The original piece available only in Bulgarian).
