The Commission has opened applications for a new round of the DiscoverEU initiative, which is offering almost 36,000 free tickets to 18-year-olds across Europe. Successful candidates will receive a free train ticket to travel around Europe for up to 30 days – either alone or in a group of up to five people – between July 2025 and September 2026. The call is open to young people born between 1 July 2006 and 30 June 2007 and residing in the EU or countries associated with the Erasmus+ programme. The Commission announced that the deadline for applications is 16 April, and those interested must register via the European Youth Portal and complete a short questionnaire about the EU.
