The British consumer magazine Which? has published a list of European destinations identified as being most affected by overtourism. Drawing on the latest complete tourism data from the European Commission, the magazine aims to highlight places that travellers might wish to avoid this summer—and to suggest alternative destinations.
According to the analysis, the Greek island of Zakynthos, with a population of just 40,000, topped the list, experiencing an average of 150 overnight stays per resident. Other heavily affected areas include Istarska Županija (Istria, Croatia), as well as Fuerteventura and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, among others.
