The consultation, available through an EU Survey, will remain open for 12 weeks until 15 August 2025, inviting feedback from national authorities, businesses, civil society, and tourism professionals across the EU. A broader public consultation is expected to follow soon after.

The forthcoming Strategy aims to shape a competitive, sustainable, and inclusive tourism model that aligns with Europe’s environmental goals, supports local communities, and strengthens the sector's resilience to crises. Key focus areas include:

  • Tackling overcrowding in tourist hotspots

  • Enhancing digital and green skills

  • Promoting sustainable practices

  • Improving cross-border mobility and connectivity

  • Strengthening the sector’s global competitiveness

Respondents are encouraged to focus on areas of their expertise and are not required to complete the full questionnaire. The Commission emphasized that this is a key moment to surface emerging priorities and address gaps not fully captured in earlier tourism initiatives.

Stakeholders are also urged to share the survey widely within their networks to maximize input and diversity of perspectives.
