The IRISS project (International ecosystem for accelerating the transition to Safe-and-Sustainable-by-design materials, products and processes) held its 6th General Assembly on 26-27 March 2025 in Brussels, bringing together partners from 15 countries for two days of collaboration. The first day featured a hybrid stakeholder event with nearly 200 participants, focusing on how Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) can drive innovation and competitiveness in European industry. Discussions highlighted key findings, challenges, and future opportunities in implementing SSbD, with insights from researchers, industry experts, and policymakers.

The second day centered on the IRISS SSbD Community, a network of over 450 professionals, researchers, and industry experts. Established to foster continued collaboration and knowledge sharing beyond the project’s duration, this community serves as a foundation for ongoing dialogue and the pursuit of safe, sustainable industrial practices.
