The European Commission has launched a public consultation to shape the future Digital Product Passport (DPP), a tool designed to provide comprehensive information on a product’s sustainability, durability, and environmental impact. This initiative, part of the 2024 Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, seeks to enhance transparency and support informed decision-making among consumers, businesses, and public authorities.

The consultation aims to collect stakeholders’ views on data storage and management practices for the DPP, as well as the potential need for a certification scheme for service providers handling this data. Feedback from this process will inform the development of an effective and functional DPP system.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit their input through the Have Your Say Portal by 1 July 2025.
