The platform will support different tourism stakeholders including NGOs, regional authorities and SMEs. It will allow them to search and filter information by country, organisation type, business activity and tourism type, including festival, gastronomy or adventure tourism.
Tourism is the first ecosystem to have a community in the recently created Transition Pathways Support Platform.
The creation of this platform is the result of long and hard work to provide a ’one-stop-shop’ that offers a new way for stakeholders to easily access knowledge, resources and connections and to support them in their transition to make their services and operations more green, digital and resilient, and to increase European competitiveness.
Get the latest news and support
You can access the latest news about the tourism sector and EU-funded tourism projects. The ‘getting support’ section has information about funding calls, funding mechanisms and training opportunities – for example to improve digital and sustainability skills through the Tourism Skills Lab.
Tourism organisations and businesses can share their commitment to a sustainable future by pledging to achieve certain targets. For example, the City of Zagreb committed to setting up a One-stop Shop for entrepreneurs in tourism to enhance and stimulate solutions in tourism based on sustainability principles.
An interactive map shows how many news items, events, projects, training courses, funding calls – and more – are available on the platform for each EU country.
The platform’s community section has a monthly online discussion where participants can explore a topic, the first one being data-driven solutions for tourism. At the end of each month, the ideas and best practices shared will be summarised and made available in the ‘knowledge and learning’ section.
The transition pathway for tourism
Presented in February 2022, the European Commission’s transition pathway for tourism plan aims to ensure that the sector makes better use of digital technology and becomes sustainable and resilient. Being a crosscutting sector, that influences and is affected by a multiplicity of other sectors and that touches most industrial ecosystems, tourism was considered a priority since the Covid pandemic and has then paved the way for other ecosystems with this approach on a simplified way to access information.
The pathway is a call for industry to:
- reduce pollution, ensure efficient use of resources and meet the increasing demand for sustainable tourism;
- make better use of data sharing to enable development of innovative services;
- invest in skills development.
