The Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Sustainable Mobility of Spain has announced a plan to allocate EUR 878 million to reduce the cost of local and metropolitan public transport throughout 2025. This funding will support a new discount scheme for local and regional public transport from 1 July to 31 December 2025; subsidise free public land transport in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands for the entire year; and reduce the cost of public bike-sharing services. This initiative aims to promote public transport and encourage the use of more sustainable and secure travel options.
