According to Euronews, the European Commission (EC) proposed on 4th December a progressive rollout of the Entry/Exit System (EES), a new digital border registration system for UK and other non-EU travellers who do not need a visa to enter the EU. Once the proposal is approved and a start date is set, member states will have six months to roll out the EES. After the rollout, travellers will need to scan their passports or other travel documents at self-service kiosks each time they cross an EU external border. This requirement does not apply to legal EU citizens, residents, or those with long-stay visas. For more details on the upcoming changes to European borders in 2025, follow the attached link.
