The City of Druskininkai approved its Sustainable Mobility Plan in 2017. Reason for this was to perform a comprehensive analysis of transport and people's travel habits in the city, to ensure sustainable mobility creation of options in the city, better quality of life in the cities and their access points and public transport
by vehicles or on foot, giving priority to public transport, non-motorized or environment friendly
(low-emission) transport. Sustainable mobility plan was updated in 2022.

Regarding Sustainable Mobility plan already done:
• A pedestrian-bicycle path has been installed by the Ratnyčėlė stream;
• 146 bicycle parking spaces are provided;
• A safe drop-off area has been installed near the "Atgimimo" school;
• Creation of a public charging infrastructure for electric cars – 10 charging stations have been installed;
• Smart crossings are installed, the safety of streets, roads, intersections is increased: additional lighting is installed at pedestrian crossings, various traffic safety measures, tactile surfaces, flashing reflectors are installed at the crossings that automatically turn on at dusk, speed limit warning signs are installed, etc.
• Renovation of public transport stops/pavilions throughout the city. The new pavilions are not only functional and comfortable for passengers, but also aesthetically blend into the resort environment. When choosing the design, we looked for original solutions - the roofs of some of the pavilions are ecological, with plants adapted to grow in a special soil. At each time of the year, such pavilions will look different and give the city even more uniqueness.

Currently, all public transport in Druskininkai is 100% electric.

The volume of public transport in the municipality of Druskininkai is not large - 17 buses, all of them are new electric ones. Druskininkai municipality reached it through private and public partnership with the Lithuanian public transportation company “Kautra”. The municipality bought 9 electric buses (2 small and 7 big) together with Kautra for 2.5 mln. Eur. Other 8 buses were bought only by a private company “Kautra”.

The measurable result is to keep 100% of Public transportation in Druskininkai environmentally friendly.
