As a coalition of members, ENSIE is foreseeing a number of actions have been identified in its recently adopted sustainability strategy, most of the measures are self-regulation measures. Generally speaking, ENSIE will adjust its vocabulary, meaning it will talk about the climate crisis and highlight the fact that groups that are currently disadvantaged, will be hardest hit by the negative effects of the climate crisis (by 2023). Therefore, ENSIE pledges to green its internal processes related to travel, events / meetings, office management by 2024.
- More concretely, by 2023 ENSIE will propose to introduce an organic waste bin.
- By 2023 it will limit the amount of copies of leaflets to the strictly necessary.
- ENSIE is planning to reorganize its office by 2023, it will opt for second-hand furniture.
- By 2023, it will reduce its energy use by turning off the unnecessary energy sources when leaving the office.
- By 2023, it will reduce its corporate gifts and if a gift is needed, it will be provided by a WISE.
- Archiving documents will happen mostly in a digital format, as well as the accountancy (by 2023).
- By 2023 ENSIE will introduce waste free lunched where colleagues bring home cooked meals to share with the team.
- When it comes to traveling, ENSIE will encourage its members and team to travel over land when possible, preferable there will be no flight travels for journeys under 500km. if plane is the only option, the carbon emissions will be offset. (by 2023). ENSIE will look into options to increase the reimbursement costs for train travels (by 2023).
- When it comes to the organisation of events, ENSIE will try to organise events in a parallel manner as much as possible to limit the travels (by 2023). When possibly and desirable, ENSIE will opt for virtual meetings. However, when opting for in-person events, ENSIE will make use of the services of local social enterprises as much as possible, for the room, catering, etc. For catering, ENSIE will avoid products from multinationals or choose a caterer that works with leftovers. Moreover, no single use plastics will be used (all by 2023).
