CURRENT ACTIONS:
ETC is already involved in several awareness-raising initiatives and intends to collaborate on similar projects in the future. We have participated in several awards programmes, including the Rail Tourism Awards and Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards, both of which aim to celebrate excellent efforts to promote sustainability and digitalisation.
ETC is also a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group ‘Together for Tourism – T4T’. This group aims to support cooperation between the Commission, Member States, and stakeholders in promoting and implementing the tourism transition pathway. To this end, we are increasing visibility among our members, and helping and encouraging our European NTOs to submit their own pledges.
FUTURE ACTIONS:
We are committed to continuing our support for the Rail Tourism Awards and Destination for Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards to continue promoting the benefits of the twin transitions for all stakeholders in the tourism industry.
ETC will continue to support the transition pathway, and resilience and sustainability in tourism more generally, through its participation in the European Commission Expert Group ‘Together for Tourism – T4T.’
We will follow the pledges laid out in our climate action plan and support our members in producing their own climate action and circularity roadmaps. Each year, we will publish our operational emissions and updates on our progress towards our net-zero objectives in a public report. We will encourage our members to do likewise and support them in this endeavour by producing a handbook on GHG emission measuring.
OUTPUT:
Continued support for the Rail Tourism Awards and Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards.
Continued participation in the ‘Together for Tourism – T4T Group’
Annual report on operational emissions and the progress that we have made towards our net zero goals.
A guidebook for members on GHG emissions measuring.
TIME:
ETC has begun work on compiling members’ climate commitments, with a view to launching an online platform late in the year. In 2025, ETC and Chapter Earth will consider creating a public version of the platform.
ETC will continue to be involved in the ‘Together for Tourism – T4T Group’ in the coming years.
Reports on ETC’s emissions will be published yearly from 2024 until at least 2050. Are 2023 emissions will be published in ETC’s annual report in July 2024.
The handbook will be published later in the final quarter of 2024.
