The City of Bruges published its updated Sustainable Food Strategy in November 2024 under the title "Bruges tastes like more", building on the original 2015 initiative "Bruges Smaakt". The strategy promotes a shift towards healthier, more sustainable food systems that respect people, animals, and the environment, with a focus on plant-based diets, local and organic produce, and reducing food waste.Structured around four pillars — health, respect, taste, and connectedness — the strategy not only supports residents but also enhances Bruges’ appeal as a culinary destination. By encouraging high-quality food experiences and sustainable practices, it aligns with the city’s tourism goals, offering visitors a taste of Bruges that reflects its values of sustainability and community.
