The Romanian Government, in its meeting on 25 September 2024, adopted the Tourism Development Strategy for 2025-2035. This plan seeks to transform Romania into a well-known, high-quality tourist destination that operates year-round, emphasising its unique cultural and natural heritage and providing international-standard services by 2035.

The strategy focuses on two primary objectives: generating employment in local communities, particularly for vulnerable groups, and increasing tourism's share in the economy. This includes improving access to tourist areas and upgrading infrastructure.
