The Secretariat of State for Tourism, a division of the Spanish government, created the Sustainable Tourism Strategy of Spain 2030 which outlines Spain’s comprehensive plan to transform its tourism sector into a more sustainable and resilient industry.
The socioeconomic, environmental, and territorial pillars of sustainability are the three main areas of concentration for the plan, focusing on the enhancement of the competitiveness and profitability of the tourism sector through quality improvements and digital transition, protection of Spain’s natural and cultural heritage to ensure long-term sustainability, and promotion of social equity by distributing tourism benefits more evenly.
This plan aims to convert Spanish tourism into steady and sustainable growth by boosting competitiveness, protecting natural and cultural resources. It is crucial for upholding Spain's position as the industry leader globally and for conforming to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations.
