The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative, funded by the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programme, runs from 2022 until 2025, aiming to support Europe's transition to a circular economy by boosting circularity at local and regional levels. Coordinated by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, the project focuses on implementing Circular Systemic Solutions across cities and regions, involving knowledge sharing, technical and financial support, and fostering collaboration. The anticipated outcome is to reduce pressure on natural resources, create sustainable growth and jobs, and help achieve the 2050 climate neutrality target.
