The EcoPassenger tool development, launched in 2015, helps users compare the environmental impacts of different travel options in Europe, encouraging eco-friendly travel choices. Key features include detailed journey calculations, emissions comparisons and customisable settings. Funded by the International Union of Railways and running from January, 2024, to December, 2027, the project aims to develop an Advanced Programming Interface (API) for direct access to the EcoPassenger calculation engine, allowing UIC members and third parties to obtain environmental footprint results easily. The UIC will manage the integration of data and ensure the tool's functionality and performance.
