The FRICTIONS project, coordinated by Wageningen University, aims to explore the tensions arising from slavery and colonial heritage tourism through interdisciplinary research across three geographical contexts. Running from April 2025 to March 2030, it focuses on how these heritage sites are transformed into tourism products and how these transformations influence societal narratives. Expected outcomes include advancing conceptual knowledge and informing societal debates on dealing with shared heritage.
