The HUMANITA project, funded by the INTERREG Central Europe program, aims to mitigate the impacts of tourism on protected areas across Central Europe. Running from April 2023 to March 2026, it focuses on developing innovative tools to assess environmental impacts, assisting protected area managers in making evidence-based decisions, and involving tourists and local communities in participatory monitoring to raise awareness and encourage behavioral change. By enhancing the protection of natural heritage and ecosystems, HUMANITA seeks to balance the preservation of natural areas with the needs of visitors through a blend of scientific research, community involvement, and innovative monitoring methods.
