The TRACCIA-TO project, initiated under the European CLIMABOROUGH initiative, aims to enhance the collection and monitoring of small Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and textile waste through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This initiative seeks to optimize waste collection processes and promote circular economy practices among citizens.
Set to run from September 2024 to September 2025, TRACCIA-TO will pilot its solutions in Turin's San Salvario district. The project focuses on gathering comprehensive data on textile waste flows—including formal, informal, hidden, and domestic sources—to improve collection efficiency and reduce improper disposal. Advanced AI technologies will play a pivotal role in this endeavor.
A collaborative effort between Erion, E.R.I.C.A., and ReLearn, TRACCIA-TO combines technological innovation with active citizen engagement. By leveraging AI to monitor waste streams and involving the community in sustainable practices, the project aspires to create a replicable model for other urban areas. The ultimate goal is to foster a unified movement towards a greener future across Europe, transforming waste management and promoting a circular economy.
