Beginning on September 1, 2023, and concluding on August 31, 2027, the STECCI project endeavors to devise innovative and sustainable safeguarding measures for cultural heritage imperiled by climate change and its associated natural and anthropogenic hazards. Funded by the EU, the STECCI initiative brings together a coalition of experts, citizens, and creatives to pioneer conservation strategies for Europe's cherished heritage. Through meticulous assessment of climate impacts on tangible phenomena like the UNESCO-listed stećci monuments, employing high-resolution scenarios spanning multiple periods, STECCI adopts a comprehensive approach. This holistic endeavor, integrating scientific analyses and digitization efforts, aims to transform necropoles into invaluable assets for local communities by fostering socio-economic development and promoting cultural tourism strategies.
