From January 1st, 2023, to January 31st, 2025, the LookUP project, funded by the European Union, aims to bolster Tourism SMEs in Extremadura (Spain), the Kuusamo area (Finland), and Transylvania (Romania) by leveraging the sky's value as a destination. By highlighting the significance of this natural resource, the project seeks to facilitate the sustainable, digital, and resilient transformation of the tourism sectors, constituting a triple transition. Through uncovering the sky's potential, the project endeavors to enhance interconnected ecosystems, embracing ecological, cultural, and scientific heritage values while promoting activities like astrotourism, birdwatching, and northern light observation. Its primary objective is to empower SMEs in these regions with enhanced skills, innovation uptake, and data management capabilities, fostering digitalization for sustainability and resilience.
