Riga TechGirls was established to address a glaring gap in Latvia’s technology sector: while demand for ICT specialists continues to grow, women remain underrepresented and often lack access to supportive entry points into tech careers. The organisation’s approach combines awareness-raising, skills training, and networking to create an inclusive environment where women and girls can thrive. Its programmes range from beginner-level introductions, such as “Discover Tech” lectures that demystify the field, to intensive reskilling initiatives like “WoTech” and “Work in Tech,” which prepare participants for junior-level programming and IT roles in under six months. Alongside career-focused training, Riga TechGirls supports female entrepreneurship through hackathons, accelerator-style programmes such as “Spring Up,” and networking events like the monthly “Female Founders Lunch.”

The community also runs specialised training for teachers, creatives, healthcare professionals, and NGOs, expanding the benefits of digital literacy beyond the tech sector.

International projects, including “Female Founders Across Borders” with partners in Uzbekistan and “Girls in Tech” training in Egypt, extend the impact globally while inspiring more women to lead in innovation. With thousands of social media followers, a growing alumni network, and a reputation for inclusivity, Riga TechGirls is reshaping the tech landscape in Latvia and setting an example for other countries seeking to close the gender gap in technology.
