We launched a multi-year research program on innovative social economy organisations, identifying various forms like community enterprises, solidarity emporiums, FabLabs, representing innovative approaches to address social needs. Over the next three years, we will conduct in-depth studies to expand knowledge on Italy's social economy, with a focus on grassroots initiatives, exploring the evolving role, social impact, and regulatory implications. This will include the first national report dedicated to mapping Community Enterprises in Italy, and two in-depth reports on Renewable Energy Communities and Communities in Support of Agriculture. With two nationally recognised books on community cooperatives, the Research Unit will expand in 2024 with two additional researchers, aiming to double publications on the topic. In Autumn 2024, we will organise the first national event on community enterprises.
