ASEDAS, which carries out 75 % of all food distribution in Spain, assumes a great responsibility in providing access to safe, varied, and affordable food throughout the country. Its extensive network makes supermarkets, self-service stores, and wholesalers key players in moving towards a more sustainable food system. In this context, its companies have internalised the culture of sustainability reporting, with more than five years of preparing non-financial statements and increasing alignment with European CSRD regulations. The third edition of ASEDAS' Sustainability Indicators shows remarkable progress: reduction of food waste to 0.45 %, increased investment in energy efficiency (4.89 %), consolidated use of renewable energies, promotion of certifications such as ISO 50001 or LEED, advances in recycling and reuse of packaging, a 16.63 % reduction in carbon footprint, and 91.74 % waste recovery.
