The European Commission's flash estimate shows consumer confidence in the EU remained broadly stable in August 2026, edging up slightly in the euro area, though both remain below their long-term averages.

The flash Consumer Confidence Indicator stood at -15.0 points for the EU (up 0.1 percentage points from July) and -15.5 points for the euro area (up 0.4 percentage points), based on survey data collected between 1 and 20 August across 26 EU countries. The full Business and Consumer Survey results, including sectoral confidence indicators, will be released on 28 August 2026, with the next flash estimate due 22 September 2026.
