According to the latest national tourism satellite account by the Swedish Agency for Growth, in 2021, tourist consumption in Sweden totaled SEK 249 billion, a 15.8% growth from 2020, as all types of tourism rebounded from their lows during the pandemic. At the same time, Sweden saw a slight fall of 1.5% in the number of employees in the tourism industries in 2021, reaching 101.5 thousand. Overall, the indicators suggest a recovery in the impact of tourism on Sweden’s economy, even though 2020 marked the lowest point since 2015. (The original piece available only in Swedish)
