At the recent Future for Fashion 2025 event held in Florence, TEHA Group presented a strategic study addressing the challenges and opportunities facing Italy’s fashion industry. The report, titled “Excellence Challenging Crisis”, offers a roadmap to restore the sector’s global leadership through digital innovation, cultural storytelling, and targeted support for SMEs.
Despite recovering from the pandemic, the Italian fashion sector now contends with geopolitical instability, macroeconomic stress, and changing consumer behaviors. However, its strong foundations in craftsmanship and innovation remain valuable assets for renewal.
The study highlights five key areas for strategic action:
- Digital Innovation & Sustainability
Investing in AI and digital technologies can boost efficiency and supply chain resilience. Embracing Net Positive business models is critical for competitiveness and meeting the expectations of conscious consumers and investors. - Elevating Made in Italy
Italy’s artisanal and cultural heritage must be communicated through unified storytelling aimed at consumers and talent alike, particularly in the accessible and absolute luxury segments. - Empowering SMEs
Public financial instruments should support the growth, generational succession, and organizational innovation of small and medium-sized enterprises — the heartbeat of the Italian fashion ecosystem. - Education and Skill Development
Structured training programs are needed to preserve artisanal skills, attract young talent, and ensure generational continuity in the workforce. - Brand Revival and Entrepreneurship
Reviving historic fashion houses and nurturing new businesses can further consolidate Italy’s international leadership in the industry.
Organized by Confindustria Toscana Centro e Costa and Centro Firenze per la Moda Italiana, with support from CDP and Kering, Future for Fashion 2025 reaffirmed the importance of building a resilient, innovative, and culturally grounded fashion industry for the future.
