Held in Milan on 21 October, INGENIUM 2026 brought together industry leaders, technology providers and institutions to explore how AI and digital innovation can strengthen Made in Italy. The inaugural event highlighted three priorities: translating technology into measurable business value, enhancing rather than replacing traditional manufacturing expertise and investing in the skills needed to lead digital transformation.

INGENIUM Made in Italy Innovation Platform held its first Symposium & Expo at Superstudio 13 in Milan, connecting fashion and lifestyle businesses with global technology providers. The event welcomed more than 400 executives and featured 30 international speakers and 70 technology exhibitors, showcasing applications of artificial intelligence, 3D technologies, spatial computing and blockchain.
A key message emerging from the discussions was that technology adoption is an investment decision, rather than simply a digital upgrade. Companies need clear objectives and ways to assess returns, with access to appropriate financial resources and technology partners particularly important for businesses operating within manufacturing districts.
The event also emphasised that innovation should enhance Italy’s distinctive manufacturing expertise rather than replace it. AI adoption must be accompanied by investment in human capital, leadership and training, enabling people to apply new technologies while preserving the craftsmanship and know-how that underpin Made in Italy.
INGENIUM aims to build on this first edition through a long-term roadmap focused on technology adoption, international competitiveness, skills development, collaboration and sustainable transformation, positioning innovation as a driver of industrial resilience and growth.
