The EU Textiles Ecosystem Platform has released its second Report on Stakeholder Pledges, marking a significant step forward in the collective implementation of the Textiles Ecosystem Transition Pathway. Since the first report in November 2025, participation has grown substantially, with new organisations and countries joining the platform's pledge community.

Key Highlights

  • 125 pledges from 36 organisations across 11 EU Member States and three non-EU countries (Switzerland, Türkiye, and the United States) have been published - a 58% increase in pledges and a near-doubling of participating organisations since the first report.
  • Pledges cover all eight building blocks of the Transition Pathway and address 36 of the 50 specific actions, up from 30 previously.
  • The largest share of pledges continues to relate to Sustainable Competitiveness (38%), followed by R&I, Techniques and Technological Solutions (18%), and Regulation and Public Governance (16%).
  • Pledges come from a diverse range of stakeholders: Networks and federations (40 pledges), large companies (27), and business support organisations (15). Academic research institutions, non-profits, SMEs, and industry associations have also made significant contributions.
  • Geographic coverage has expanded to include Portugal as a new Member State, alongside Türkiye and the United States, though organisations from Northern and Eastern Europe remain underrepresented among pledge submitters.
  • Companies continue to leverage existing sustainability reporting to make commitments, while networks and confederations show growing activity in skills development, and academic and research institutions lead in the R&I building block.

The pledges reflect a strategic mix of short-term operational action - such as workforce upskilling and securing EU funding - and long-term systemic ambition, including 2030 and 2050 decarbonisation targets. Six major priorities are driving the ecosystem's transformation: digitalisation and preparation for the upcoming Digital Product Passport (DPP); proactive policy engagement and standardisation; upskilling and re-skilling for the twin transition; social sustainability; consumer engagement; and collaborative innovation.

Pledges are an essential tool for translating EU strategies into practical action. Sharing them on the platform helps raise awareness, encourages collaboration, and recognises the contributions of all stakeholders, particularly SMEs, which play a vital role in the ecosystem's transformation.

The EU Textiles Ecosystem Platform will continue to collect, validate, and publish new pledges, with the aim of expanding participation. Organisations are invited to submit and regularly update their pledges to highlight impactful practices and contribute to the ecosystem's collective transformation.

Read the full report below for detailed insights and concrete examples of how the textiles ecosystem is advancing towards a more competitive, sustainable, digital, and resilient future.
