The European textile and clothing industry is undergoing a major transformation. Sustainability, digital technologies, shifting global trade and new consumer expectations are changing how textiles are designed, produced and used. EURATEX represents this industry at European level, supporting companies as they adapt and grow.

The organisation brings together national associations and companies from across the European Union and neighbouring countries. It speaks for almost 200,000 businesses, most of them small and medium-sized, which employ 1.3 million people and generate over 170 billion euros in annual turnover. From traditional weaving workshops to advanced technical fabric producers, European textiles combine quality, creativity and innovation.

EURATEX focuses on a set of priorities that reflects the sector’s needs: strengthening competitiveness, promoting sustainable and circular practices, supporting research, innovation and skills, and improving access to global markets through free and fair trade. These priorities shape its work with EU institutions, helping to ensure that legislation is realistic and that companies have the tools they need to succeed.

As the EU introduces new frameworks on eco-design, textile waste, recycling and product transparency, EURATEX plays a central role in shaping these policies and guiding their implementation on the ground. It also coordinates European initiatives such as RegioGreenTex, which aims to develop textile recycling hubs, the TCLF Pact for Skills, which improves the skills of the sector's workforce, and StitchTogether, which supports fair industrial transitions through stronger social dialogue. 

Through this work, EURATEX ensures that the European textile and clothing industry remains competitive, sustainable and ready to meet new expectations, securing its place in Europe’s industrial future.
