The EEA is an agency of the European Union that provides data, analysis and knowledge on the state of Europe’s environment. Working closely with its knowledge network, Eionet, the EEA collects and validates environmental data, analyses trends and produces policy-relevant assessments to support European environmental and climate policies.
The EEA works with organisations at global, European, and regional levels and supports policymakers through analytical expertise, environmental reporting and data infrastructure. Its work covers a broad range of environmental and sustainability issues and contributes to the development and implementation of European environmental legislation. The agency also provides information and assessments to help citizens and decision-makers understand environmental challenges and possible responses.
The EEA supports European efforts to address environmental challenges through evidence, data and knowledge on areas such as the circular economy, resource use, waste and sustainability transitions. Its work provides a wider evidence base for stakeholders working towards more sustainable production and consumption models, including across sectors such as textiles. The agency’s data and analysis also help stakeholders understand environmental impacts and the wider policy context shaping sustainability transitions.
