CEC will support and promote research & innovation actions in European footwear companies - especially SMEs, to accelerate the uptake of eco-design, low-carbon processes, innovative materials, digitalisation, and circular business models. For this purpose, CEC will launch a Sustainability Working Group within its Members to work on social and sustainability aspects to empower companies to better adapt to the green and digital transitions.
The Working Group should gather at least 7 research and technology centres of excellence in these topics, and hold periodic meetings (4 per year) to develop solutions and guidelines for companies across Europe.
The Working Group will provide input and present potential solutions to policy makers for at least two EU legislative files related to sustainability by 2028
