CEC will support and promote research & innovation actions in European footwear companies—especially SMEs, to accelerate the uptake of eco-design, low-carbon processes, innovative materials, digitalisation, and circular business models. For this purpose, CEC will launch a Sustainability Working Group within its Members to work on social and sustainability aspects to empower companies to better adapt to the green and digital transitions. 

• The Working Group  should gather at least 7 research and technology centres of excellence in these topics, and hold periodic meetings (4 per year) to develop solutions and guidelines for companies across Europe.
• The Working Group will provide input and present potential solutions to policy makers for at least two EU legislative files related to sustainability by 2028
