The Visitor Experience Innovation project, funded by the EU under the Interreg V-A programme, aimed to increase visitor numbers at cultural heritage sites in the France-United Kingdom cross-border region. Acknowledging the economic challenges faced by these sites, the project focused on utilizing advanced digital technologies, such as Visitor Intelligence tools and Augmented Reality experiences, to enhance visitor engagement. By developing innovative digital products and implementing them at key cultural sites, the initiative sought to improve the overall visitor experience, boost tourism revenue, and promote sustainable practices. The project commenced on 1 February 2017 and concluded on 31 December 2021, benefiting multiple cultural heritage locations across both countries.
