From 2021 to 2023, the rurAllure project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, addressed a significant shortcoming associated with the popularity of walking and pilgrimage routes: despite attracting thousands of individuals, their impact generally remains limited to the immediate vicinity. The rurAllure pilgrims’ portal offers a solution by enabling travelers to tailor their itineraries along historic routes based on their preferences and gain insights into the surrounding heritage. Additionally, the portal serves as a platform for local businesses to showcase their services to the global pilgrim community.
