On 8 May 2025, the DETOCS project, supported by the Interreg Europe programme, published a post highlighting a Finnish initiative as an example of good practice. The initiative, titled ""Making Tourism SMEs’ Sustainability Efforts Visible"", aims to enhance responsible tourism expertise among businesses. It presents a model for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through peer learning, site visits, workshops, and tailored guidance—particularly in contexts with limited resources.
The initiative was funded by the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of South Ostrobothnia, with a budget of EUR 62,901.20, and coordinated by the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. It supported participating businesses in reducing their environmental impact, improving collaboration, and accessing new market segments. Among the six participating companies, five obtained the Ekokompassi environmental certificate, and one received the Green Key certification.
Further details regarding the project’s objectives, resources, outcomes, and supporting evidence are available via the link provided on the left-hand side of the platform.
