Based on the latest data from the Portuguese Statistical Office, 84.7% of tourist accommodations in 2022 were situated on mainland Portugal, with the remainder in the Azores and Madeira. The total number of accommodation establishments was 457,818, including 344,783 hotels and similar establishments, 82,867 local accommodations, and 30,168 rural area lodgings.
