In 2023, Istat reported that the preferred destinations for travelers in Italy were urban areas, with 84.2 out of every 100 trips being made to cities, towns, and hamlets. Cultural sites, including monuments, buildings, and historical or archaeological locations, were the second favorite, attracting 53.3 visits per 100 trips. On the other hand, industrial tourism was the least favored, with factory visits accounting for just 6.8 per 100 trips. This data indicates a growing interest in cultural excursions compared to the previous year, suggesting a potential trend. Istat, the Italian National Institute of Statistics, offers a comprehensive and regularly updated statistical database that allows users to freely access and analyze various aspects of cultural travel in Italy.
