According to the latest data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, in the first quarter of 2024, the majority of same-day outbound trips by Hungarian citizens were for shopping, accounting for 37.9% of all trips. This trend has consistently remained significant since 2019. On the other hand, the primary reason for multi-day outbound trips during the same period was holidays, leisure, and recreation, representing 39.4% of all trips. These same purposes also prevailed in the total length of stay and spending of outbound trips, indicating an established trend in the motivation behind Hungarian citizens’ travel.
