In the first quarter of 2024, Estonian citizens preferred domestic tourism over international travel. They made approximately 658,600 trips within Estonia, which is significantly more than the 312,100 trips abroad. The primary reasons for both domestic and international trips were holidays, leisure, and recreation. Interestingly, professional and business purposes were less common for domestic tourism, while visits to friends and relatives were less popular for trips abroad. Statistics Estonia’s database offers free access to detailed quarterly data on overnight domestic and outbound trips of residents by main purpose, allowing users to select indicators for analysis.
