According to a Eurostat article published in June 2022 on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on short-stay accommodation offered through online collaborative economy platforms, there was a notable recovery in platform tourism in Europe during the second half of 2021. A total of 364 million guest nights were booked through these platforms, up from 272 million in 2020. This recovery, however, was uneven across Europe. While several countries nearly reached their 2019 record levels, the EU as a whole remained 28.9% below 2019 figures.
