EU recorded nearly 2.8 billion nights spent in tourist accommodations in 2022, with domestic tourists accounting for almost 1.6 billion nights and international guests making up 1.2 billion nights, reflecting a strong recovery in the tourism sector.

According to Eurostat, the EU had approximately 28.9 million bed places available in over 620,000 tourist accommodation establishments in 2022. The data showed a full recovery in tourism accommodation offerings. Italy and France made up slightly more than one-third of the total capacity, with 5.2 million and almost 5.1 million bed places, respectively. In 2022, these accommodations in the EU registered nearly 2.8 billion nights spent, with domestic tourists accounting for almost 1.6 billion nights and international guests for 1.2 billion nights.
