In 2021, Finnish domestic tourists spent significantly more on domestic trips compared to outbound trips, with 92.0% of their total travel expenditures being domestic. The highest expenses for these domestic tourists were on goods such as food and other purchases (20.1%), automotive fuel (15.5%), and food and beverage services (14.9%), which together made up 50.5% of their total spending. Despite the pandemic’s impact, total tourism expenses in 2021 were 93.2% of those in 2019, showcasing the resilience of domestic tourism.
