According to the Statistics Office of Malta, in 2023, Malta welcomed approximately 3.0 million inbound tourists, marking a 30.1% increase from 2022 and an 8.1% growth compared to 2019. These visitors collectively spent over 20.2 million nights in the country, contributing to a total expenditure of nearly EUR 2.7 billion. Notably, 98.0% of inbound tourists arrived by air, while only 2.0% opted for sea travel. The primary purpose for their visits remained consistent: holiday trips accounted for 90.9% of all travel reasons, indicating a sustained trend.
