In 2023, the majority of Latvian residents cited insufficient motivation (26.0%) and financial conditions (23.5%) as the main reasons for not going on recreational and other private overnight trips. Interestingly, compared to 2019, financial conditions were the primary obstacle for 36.7% of respondents, indicating a positive shift. Among different age groups, financial conditions were the main deterrent for residents aged 35-54 in 2023, while older residents were more likely to be discouraged by insufficient motivation. The National Statistical System of Latvia provides more detailed data, offering a free, automatically updated statistical database. This database allows users to select criteria and explore reasons preventing Latvian residents from taking recreational or private overnight trips with at least one night spent outside their usual environment from 2018 to 2023.
