According to the EU Tourism Dashboard, in 2022, the share of trips by train among EU destinations was observed at 0.12%. Notably, France had the highest level of train trips (0.24%), followed by Austria (0.2%). Other EU countries showed varying levels, ranging from 0.01% in Greece to 0.15% in Finland. Despite recovering from the pandemic’s impact, train travel remains less widespread for domestic trips compared to other modes of transportation with a higher environmental impact.
