In 2023, despite a decrease in the number of Slovak residents not participating in tourism compared to the pandemic-hit year of 2020, approximately 1.9 million residents still did not engage in tourism. The primary reasons for non-participation in tourism in 2023 were financial constraints (42.1%), health issues (34.1%), and a lack of motivation for travel (19.8%). Before the pandemic in 2019, health reasons (38.1%) were the main factor preventing Slovak residents from traveling, followed closely by financial considerations (37.6%). This data is sourced from the publicly available database of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, which provides insights into non-participation in tourism and the reasons behind it for Slovak residents.
