On September 29, 2025, the European Commission and the European Travel Commission, in conjunction with the Japan Tourism Agency, will host a pivotal event at the Osaka Expo from 14:30-17:00 local time (07:30-10:00 CEST). This high-level gathering will focus on how smarter tourism can bolster the recovery and sustainable growth of travel between Japan and Europe.

With tourism heavily concentrated in certain hotspots, the event will feature engaging keynotes and interactive panels on diversifying travel patterns. Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and Takeshi Nakano, Vice-Commissioner for the Japan Tourism Agency, will open the event. Participants will discuss practical strategies for alleviating congestion in iconic tourist areas and enhancing cross-border connectivity while promoting responsible travel.

We invite you to join this important discussion via a live stream from the EU Pavilion at Osaka Expo, offering a unique opportunity to engage with global thought leaders on shaping the future of tourism.
